Sara Smith Royster
Sara Smith joined the firm in December 2013 after practicing for 7 years at Jones, Gotcher & Bogan, P.C. in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she primarily practiced in commercial litigation, focusing in real estate, construction, employment, and banking.  Her practice now includes regulatory compliance in the banking industry, particularly residential mortgage lending and loan servicing governed by the Consumer Federal Protection Bureau (“CFPB”). Ms. Smith was graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2004 with a B.A. in International Business, and received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa in 2007.  Ms. Smith was admitted to practice in the State of Oklahoma in May 2007 where she is member of the Federal District Courts for the Eastern, Northern, and Western Districts of Oklahoma, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.  Ms. Smith is also admitted to practice in the State of Illinois. While at the University of Tulsa, Ms. Smith was a member of both the ATLA and NTC trial teams, taking second place in the ATLA trial competition and a regional qualifier with the NTC trial team.  She also was Executive Editor of the Tulsa Journal of Comparative and International Law.  Her comment, The Free Trade Area of the Americas: Is There Still a Place for the World Trade Organization? was selected for publication.  Ms. Smith was a recipient of a University Fund Scholarship through her three years in law school and was selected for the Dean's Honor Roll at both the University of Oklahoma and the University of Tulsa. Ms. Smith is actively involved in her community, as she presently holds board positions with Street School, Inc. and the University of Tulsa College of Law Alumni Board.  She previously held board positions with Tulsa Downtown branch of the YMCA and the Tulsa Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and she previously served as a mentor for Street School students.
